What is more practical from the point of view of installation: Ondulin or the new Onduville 3D?

In order to answer such a question, we need to consider the characteristics of these two materials, and only then make a comparison.

Comparative characteristics of Ondulin and Onduvilla

The first of them is a single-layer sheet having a fibrous structure and made of cellulose fiber, bitumen and minerals. In the process of creating Ondulin, various resins and fillers are also used. The weight of one element is only 6.5 kg. From the point of view of durability, the material can give odds to many modern coatings, which are well established among the builders.

The size of the standard sheet is 200x96 cm, so in this case you will need to use a cutting tool, such as a hacksaw, to get the elements of the right size.

As an alternative to this method, you can consider the option when you will order such sheets at once of the right size. The material itself can withstand quite large loads, but only if it is laid correctly, and the load itself is distributed over a large area.

Onduvilla 3D is an alternative to Ondulin sheets, which allows you to simulate not sheets of multi-colored slate, but real tileso your roof will look very interesting. This material is especially well combined with wooden or brick buildings. The life of a properly laid Onduvilla reaches 15 years, and leaks during the entire period of operation simply cannot occur. From the point of view of aesthetics, the coating will give Ondulin a good head start, and the level of isolation here is very high.

We are talking about both protection from water and noise. The first point is explained by the fact that the holes punched in the material with fasteners are gradually tightened, since microscopic drops bitumen protrude along their inner perimeter, closing even small gaps. The minimum noise level is caused by the fact that the material itself well absorbs the sound of rain drops, therefore under such a roof you will not feel inside the drum.

The nuances of editing Ondulin and Onduvilla

Installation of both material can be done with your own hands, so the presence of professional skills is necessary, but by no means a mandatory factor.

The operational characteristics of these coatings are comparable, so we will rely on their cost. A standard sheet of Ondulin will cost 400 rubles, and half of it 200 rubles. Onduvilla is almost 2 times cheaper: an element of 1.06x0.4 m can be bought for 120 rubles. Obviously, the second option is preferable and budget.

“The standard sheet of Ondulin will cost 400 rubles, and half of it 200 rubles. Onduvilla is almost 2 times cheaper: the element 1.06x0.4 m can be bought for 120 rubles. ”
This is the same as comparing the price of an aerated concrete block and brick, and saying that building a brick is cheaper, since one brick is cheaper than one aerated concrete block.
One standard sheet of ondulin covers the same area as approximately FIVE onduville tiles, so multiply the price of ondville by 5 and tell how “Onduville is almost 2 times cheaper.”
