Windows in Sweden are the very first thing that catches your eye, and all because of the lack of curtains in the apartments. So why can’t you hang curtains on the windows?
There are several options for why the Swedes do not decorate their windows with curtains.

In the old days of the Vikings, the main source of food was fishing.
Since male fishermen appeared on the doorstep of the house late at night, the wives, so that their husbands would not get lost on the way, put candles or oil lamps on the windows. And curtains would be an extra problem.

Once upon a time there was a king in Sweden who was extremely disliked by his subjects. So, according to the second legend, this royal person was quite suspicious and everywhere he imagined conspiracies. And so, at his command, a decree was issued banning the hanging of curtains on windows so that at any moment the whole royal army would look into the window and the conspirators would be punished.

Sweden is similar to the Russian northern parts in that in the summertime the nights are quite bright, but in the winter terribly short days.
Satisfied with the summer bright nights, the Swedes do not broadcast curtains. By the way, to this day they are simply obsessed with various lamps, chandeliers.
