Proper installation of plastic windows with your own hands

If you want to improve housing conditions and save money, the thought comes of installing plastic windows with your own hands. Installation technology is simple, if you follow some rules. Knowing the step-by-step instructions, even a beginner without certain skills will be able to cope with the work on his own.

Plastic window

Taking measurements

To correctly install plastic windows, you should accurately measure the opening before ordering double-glazed windows. Otherwise, it will have to be expanded. Easiest use the services of gaugesthat stores or construction companies can provide.

With an independent approach, the length and width of the opening should be removed without taking into account the old frame, dirt and plaster. It is also necessary to leave 2 cm around the perimeter for thermal insulation and 3.5 cm for the windowsill.

Window measurement

The window sill and ebb need to be taken with a margin of more than 7 cm in length. When installed, they will go approximately 40 mm into the walls and 30 mm under the euro-window itself.

Preparatory stage

After measuring and acquiring all the necessary materials, it's time to disassemble the frame. To dismantle it will require a hacksaw, ax or hammer.

Removal Options:

Dismantling

  1. Orderly. It is characterized by a long loosening and cutting of the frame with a hacksaw, taking it out with the help of a mount or nail puller. This method is preferred.
  2. Active. Knocking out an old window with a hammer or ax.

Of course, a big advantage will be the measure of carefully knocking out the window so that the supporting structure is not damaged.

The smoother the window opening, the easier it will be to align everything and fix it.

Installation of double-glazed windows

Installation should be done with an assistant. Lifting a heavy structure alone is difficult. In addition, it will maintain the window while all necessary operations are performed. To film in advance is the wrong approach. This can only be done after completion of work. Shutters are better to remove in advance, this will facilitate the installation of the frame in level.

Foaming

  1. The bars are installed in the opening on the sides and bottom. Rectangular bars with a length of 50 mm and a width of 20 mm are cut with a hacksaw. They should be placed on foam or glue near the anchors.
  2. Window insertion. It is necessary to insert a plastic window on the bars and adjust the level. You need to align it horizontally on the windowsill and vertically on the slope using a plumb line.
  3. Marking for anchors. Pull the nail through the hole in the frame and make a mark. In places of marks holes are drilled. You need to drill through the frame or without it.
  4. Installation in accordance with GOST. The window is again placed in the opening, measuring the indentation according to the accepted standards, 2 cm. Next, the anchors are baited without tightening them strongly. When working with anchor plates, they need to be bent so that they protrude 1 mm above the frame. After tightening, check the installation with a level.
  5. The use of polyurethane foam. The perimeter of the window opening is filled with foam. It is not worth stinging the material, all excess can be easily removed after drying. It is difficult to wash it from the window, so you need to do the work carefully.
  6. Window sill installation. After half an hour, a window sill is installed. It must be inserted to a depth of 2.5 cm under the window. If desired, you can make a slope of 3 degrees. Foam is blown out abundantly under it, there should be no voids.
  7. Use of weighting agents. For uniform solidification of the windowsill, put something heavy on it, for example, 4 filled three-liter jars. They must be left for at least 3 days. But if the air temperature is above +25 degrees, only 40 hours is enough.

Slopes and ebbs

Mounting the tide is as easy as with the windowsill. The only caveat - you need to make the slope from the window more, otherwise the moisture will be retained, and not drain immediately after being hit. As fasteners use self-tapping screws or mounting foam. At the end of the installation of this part, silicone should fill the gap between the frame and the ebb.

Low tides and slopes

Next comes the time of slopes. They should not only be beautiful, but also have a good ability to keep warm. Experts recommend using sandwich panels or drywall as a budget option.

Slope installation scheme:

Low tide

  1. The entire surface is poured with mounting foam or covered with adhesive tape panels that are attached to the wall.
  2. The gap between the frame and the sandwich panel is treated with silicone or sealant. This will prevent heat loss and protect against moisture.

DIY PVC window installation is complete. It remains only to install all the necessary accessories.

After a few days, you can hang the blinds and start using a metal-plastic window.
