There are several ways to make beautiful and well-groomed paths, but first you should understand their varieties, advantages and disadvantages.
Bulk option
Do-it-yourself paths in the garden are made of material that is poured onto the ground.
As a rule, gravel, gravel or broken brick is used.
It is worth considering all the pros and cons of such coverage.
The positive aspects include the following:
- Cheapness. This material is inexpensive, and if desired, it can be purchased for free.
- No need to lay drainage. Gravel perfectly passes water, so you should not worry that paths form ponds or puddles.
- Reliable and durable material. Once gravel is laid on the ground, it will last for many years. The stone will not break or rot.
- Easy styling. If something happens to the gravel path, then some special repairs will not be required, it is enough to pour a little new stone, and the path will be like new.
In addition, pavement of any shape, even the most bizarre, can be made of such material. In addition, gravel and gravel are safe enough, the rough surface will not allow to slip and fall if the rain has passed.
Unfortunately, such a coating also has disadvantages. It’s not very convenient to walk on stones barefoot, as they have sharp corners. In addition, before laying it is necessary to cultivate the soil from weeds. Otherwise, in the spring, green grass will appear from under the path.
We make a path in the country with our own hands, but for a start it is worth stocking up with material, namely:
- sand;
- gravel;
- geotextile;
- boards;
- wooden pegs.
Before you begin the workflow, you need to markup, and then install the pegs. Then you need to dig a shallow pit, it will be enough 20 cm. It is necessary to carefully tamp the bottom, fill up the prepared sand and lay the geo-fabric on it.
Now you should install the boards, they will play the role of the sides. After that, you can fill up the gravel.
Plastic bottles
This is perhaps the most budgetary option - the material is lying around everywhere, so collecting the required number of eggplants will not be difficult, and anyone can make a garden path from them.
The main advantages of such garden paths:
- Reliability. Plastic is not afraid of frost, rain and other climatic phenomena. Even after several seasons, the path will look perfect.
- Massage effect. On such a surface is not only pleasant, but also useful to walk. The protruding bottoms have a preventive effect against flat feet.
- Easy care. There is no need to take care of the path. She washes well in the rain.
- Durability. Plastic is practically immortal; it requires many decades to decay. And if some bottle is bent, then it is easy to replace it with a new one.
It is worth paying attention to the disadvantages of this design. The main disadvantage of this original path is the complicated installation. The fact is that for the arrangement, it is first necessary to fill the eggplant with sand or small gravel to make it heavier. Then bury it in the ground so that the bottom is on the surface, moreover, all elements should be located as close as possible to each other.
After that, you should sprinkle homemade pavement with sand or pour concrete to form a flat path.All this takes a lot of time and effort.
Wood flooring
These self-made country paths look very beautiful and noble, and most importantly, the material is very cheap. The advantages of such a natural coating include:
- beautiful view - even darkened logs will look attractive;
- convenience - it’s very pleasant and comfortable to walk along a wooden path even with bare feet.
As for the minuses, there are much more than pluses. The main disadvantages:
- Difficulty in processing. To extend the life of the material, it should be treated with special compounds. Such a procedure will have to be carried out annually.
- Short service life. Even with proper care, the tree will not last more than 5-8 years.
Rains, snow and constant contact with the ground shorten the service life by several times. In addition, a drainage layer is necessarily laid under the cover, and this will lead to an extra waste of money.
Making yourself beautiful and cheap paths on a garden plot is completely uncomplicated. It is enough to choose the right material and understand the styling technique.
